Student comment from Mr. Doughan's Blog

If you get a chance, take a look at the conversations taking place on Mr. Doughan's Blog. The following quote came from one of our students. She is right! You, our staff, is what sets us apart........

PHS has one thing that SHS (Schaumburg H.S) didn't really have or I never saw it because I was a Freshman and a Sophmore. Mr. Meister states that an effective high school has "Professionals that are willing to take risks, willing to admit they do not have all the answers and never lose the yearning to keep learning." Personally, I think this statement describes most of the PHS Staff.

Teachers should be real and honest and not worried about thier perception in the community. In other words teach to the students not their parents and have the guts to do it.

We as educators hear from the public all the time that we need to "teach" our students. Many people in our community still have not realized that kids can learn other ways than sitting in a chair with the teacher lecturing. Do we do this as adults? Is the real world like this? Sometimes I feel when my physical education class is outside walking that I am being judged as a bad teacher. There have been many times I have hear a passerby yell "Make those kids run. You are just walking? You have got to be kidding!". I feel we do need to teach students for their needs in the future. Lifetime skills are in great demand with our youth. So, as a staff, let's continue to grow and teach for the changes in the future. PHS has grown by leaps and bounds in this area. I have a great appreciation of PHS staff's effort in the preparation of "tomorrow's future". !
